What began as a Covid-19 lockdown project for the Duke of Northumberland, researching his Percy ancestors during the Wars of the Roses, culminated in the 2024 publication of Lions of the Red Rose.
A initial request for Phillips Creative to illustrate several maps showing sites of battle blossomed into a commission to provide the book design, artwork and production, as well as the cover painting, several family trees, and almost eighty illustrations.

Something you do not experience everyday… when your paintings are put on display in the Eiffel Room of the Hôtel De Hermitage, Monte Carlo. The two paintings (oil on canvas, 4' x 3') have been attracting no end of appreciation from visitors and staff of this grand establishment, and are in fact numbers 1 and 2 of an ongoing collection of works to celebrate the grandeur and splendour of Monaco. A lavish and limited edition book will be published in 2019 to coincide with the exhibition of all of these paintings on completion.
Much gratitude to SBM for allowing me unprecedented access to the various buildings, casinos, opera house and palaces to assist in my research.

Peter Phillips was honoured to provide the cover painting for ‘Lions Of The North’, a new book by the Duke of Northumberland.
“From the Norman Conquest to the present day, the story of Alnwick Castle and the Percy family has been woven into the fabric of British history. The castle represented the family’s dominance in the north and stood guard over the disputed, bloodstained borderlands.”

The third instalment in Peter Phillips' ongoing ‘sketchbook series’ will celebrate the breathtaking beauty of the length and breadth of Northumberland, the wildest and most romantic county of all.
The scope of this book is to cover his favourite, more popular locations as well bring into focus some lesser-known places of interest and a few hidden surprises.
Scheduled for an early 2019 publication, we will have more info on the Northumberland Sketchbook in the coming weeks.

When Wynyard Park celebrated Royal Ascot Day with a charity function at Rockliffe Hall, an original oil painting, ‘National Treasures’ was commissioned from Peter Phillips to raise funds for the event through auction.

To raise funds and awareness for the children’s charity Dreamflight, a special intimate performance by Sting was the highlight of a function at Bamburgh Castle on 20 October, 2017. As a ‘thank you’ to Sting from the organisers, Peter Phillips was asked to provide an original painting, ‘Another Day II’.
